Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has insisted police stop and search is working to help reduce knife crime across London. Sir Mark made his comments in an interview with LBC today (1 May), the day after a 14-year-old boy was killed and four others injured in a sword attack in Hainault, east London. Sir Mark told LBC presenter Nick Ferrari that the police are looking to “increase stop and search” because the tactic “does work” in helping to reduce knife crime. “We have to break the culture of people carrying knives,” Sir Mark said.
