An LBC caller has suggested an alternative to culling badgers - vaccinating them and shipping them out to the Falklands and Shetland Islands. The UK government has allowed the licensed culling of badgers in England as a temporary measure to control the spread of bovine tuberculosis (TB) since 2013. Government research indicated that large-scale culling can achieve an overall reduction in TB rates in cattle, but rates can increase again a few years after culling stops. "You don't need to kill them," the caller told LBC as he advocated for taking the badgers to the islands.
