A spectacular D-Day drone show lit up the skies above Portsmouth on Wednesday 5 June. Commemoration events took place in the Hampshire city on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the 1944 Normandy landings. Footage shared by Alexandra Schillemore shows spectacular displays in the sky, with a giant Spitfire, parachutes and boats appearing overhead. Royal family members and world leaders are set to gather in Normandy on Thursday for another day of commemorations. A military piper began commemorations early in the morning by playing a lament at sea at the exact moment of the beach invasion in 1944.
