A driver assaulted traffic wardens handing him a parking ticket in Coventry before speeding off and narrowly avoiding hitting them, footage from June 2023 shows. The civil enforcement officers were patrolling and ticketed an illegally parked vehicle. When the driver saw the ticket, he became verbally and physically abusive towards the officers. After warning him that he is being filmed, one enforcement officer is pushed by the man who replies with explicit insults. The driver, aged in his 40s, was later arrested and convicted of assault in October 2023 and sentenced to a community order.
