New research (n=97) has found that an existing drug, methotrexate used for rheumatoid arthritis since the 1980s, could help many people with painful hand osteoarthritis

Methotrexate is commonly used in Australia and around the world for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. Now, a study has found that this existing, affordable medication improves pain in patients with hand osteoarthritis.
